North Caicos and More
Snorkeling is da bomb! I didn’t drown, obviously ;o) I haven’t had a chance to get online till now so this is going to be a long update.
Saturday was great! John and I started off by going snorkeling over at Coral Gardens. I snapped some pictures with a disposable underwater camera so I don’t have those to show right now but hopefully they turn out. I think I’ll invest in an underwater camcorder for when I move to the Island in October.
I spent Saturday night at Lemon Cafe doing Tarot readings and then headed on over to the Ganseevort for their 1st year anniversary party. It seemed like everyone on Provo was there…it was great meeting so many people and the energy was high and lots of fun. We saw Nina Dobrev, the girl who plays the lead role in The Vampire Diaries, just hanging out and chilling with the crowd!
Sunday we went snorkeling again and hung out at Nat’s place. Monday, some more snorkeling and beach walking and then Tuesday we headed on out to catch the TCI Ferry to North and Middle Caicos for the day.
We decided to drive through to Middle Caicos and then wend our way back to North Caicos. We crossed what was left of the bridge that was built between the two islands. As you can see it was torn apart in the 2008 hurricane and hasn’t been rebuilt yet.
We were hungry by the time we got to Middle Caicos so we stopped at Daniel’s Cafe and had an amazing fish dinner. Daniel was great fun and made us feel very welcome…he even invited us to his birthday party in October!
After lunch we drove over to Mudjin Harbor. Wow! It has such awesome beauty and the area just feels very powerful. We loved the cave that you see right away when you’re coming down the path to the beach.

We tried to do some snorkeling but the water was really choppy so we just played in it instead. John walked across a sandbar to a tiny island…you can sit over there and have a picnic lunch and pretend you’re on your own private island. It’s a pretty incredible place.
We met up here with some of the folks who came over on the ferry with us. We didn’t really explore North Caicos as we spent so much time at Daniel’s Cafe and Mudjin Harbor we didn’t have time before we had to head on back to the Ferry.
So when I’m back in October we’ll take another trip over to North Caicos and check out Wades Green Plantation, Cottage Pond and do some snorkeling at Three Mary Cays Sanctuary.
There’s so much to do on these great little islands that maybe we’ll even stay for a few days so we can explore it all!
We had a visitor today…a potcake puppy. He showed up last night and came back today soaked to the skin. It’s been raining pretty hard all day which everyone on the island is grateful for. It looks like John is going to keep him…he’s so cute!

Haha, ironically I just posted a comment regarding underwater cameras. Its nice to see you thought of them! I really like these pictures, especially the one of the road. I am very dramatic with the way I view things, but it is almost like the road goes from modern society back into ancient times; and just drifts off into the ocean prior to any man-made thing. Its beautiful.
[...] I love Provo, I really do but for true Caribbean flavor you need to get yourself on over to North and Middle Caicos! [...]
