A Day at Amanyara
So far, Sundays are my most favorite days in Turks and Caicos! We started off with breakfast at The Vix Restaurant…it was great! The pancakes were perfect, fluffy and light and I loved the breakfast sausage! John had the yoghurt with berries and some back bacon. Very satisfying.

Not only looks good but tastes good too!
Then we grabbed Oscar and Chia and headed to the beach. It was hot!! We had a swim and talked to some great folks who are thinking they may want to adopt Chia! Keep your fingers crossed. On the walk back I happened upon this great sand creation.

Jabba the Hutt! Love this!
Headed home and took a little nap then got ready to go to Amanyara! Although I’ve seen lots of great photos of Amanyara I was so excited to experience it in person! John and I went with Richard in his Hummer…John drove, he just lovvvves driving the Hummer.
Here’s Richard and John on the path to the entrance of Amanyara.

Here’s the doorway to enter Amanyara. It looks like a catheral…it’s so beautiful.

This is what you see on your walk to the restaurant…a reflecting pond. The minute I walked in my whole body just breathed and I sighed. This place has some mighty powerful feng shui going on!

The food was stupid good and I found my new favorite drink! A champagne mojito…shut-up! Love it…but have to remember to not have more than 2…and that’s pushing it! Everything got kinda hazy, in a good way, after a few of these drinks

Here’s a shot of the bed we were lounging on. That’s some of the food…everything we tried and we tried a lot, was incredible! That’s Emma, one of the managers at Amanyara…she is so great! Attentive, charming, funny…very cool! We also met another manager, Josh, he was wonderful as well and very funny!

Emma and some of the great food we ate. There's salted calamari, codfish balls, vegetable tempura...we had more but they couldn't fit it all on one platter!
We headed out to the deck where there’s a beautiful infinity pool and beds to watch the sunset! The beds were all taken so we sat and chatted and drank and ate some more while we watched the sunset! I was having such a good time that I almost forgot to take pictures of the sunset…I caught a few but would love to go back and do a whole shoot on just the sunset!

We headed out about 15 minutes after sunset. It was just so perfect I didn’t want to leave! Will definitely have to go back to Amanyara for another sunset sometime soon!

Leaving Amanyara
We headed to Baci’s with Richard for some pizza and met up with Rebecca, JT, Anna and Christian! Great folks! It was a wonderful way to end a very long, exciting Sunday in Turks and Caicos!
Dance the night away
OMG! Okay I never use that term but OMG! What a party at Lemon Cafe! It was wild, high energy, dance the night away fun!
We ended up getting home at 6:30 in the morning…yikes! It’s going to take a day or two to recover but it was oh, so worth it!
John put on a fantastic fire show with Arabellis…check it out. The picture quality is not that great but you’ll get the general idea.

They were great! Brave girl doing a handstand!
I didn’t get too many pictures as I was enjoying myself so much…but here’s one of the crowd and one of folks dancing on the bar!

A full house!

Oh Yeah! The guys were enjoying the show!
There were a few guys wearing kilts who got up on the bar and danced as well!

The girls were enjoying the show too!
Quicksound was awesome! They rocked the house all night long! Everyone was dancing and grooving and laughing and just totally enjoying themselves and the amazing energy running through Lemon Cafe.
Around 4 in the morning John pushed his way through to the back of the restaurant and gave an amazing fire show wearing his burning man flower pants and cowboy hat! Woohoo! It was hot!

It was a night to remember!
The Perfect Saturday in Turks and Caicos
Yesterday was a busy day. Had my hair done in the morning, went to Pelican Bay Restaurant for lunch, took a walk on Grace Bay Beach and read Tarot Cards at Lemon Cafe for Arabian Nights. I is worn out this morning…but that probably has more to do with me starting in on the Black Russians before I left the house to go to Lemon Cafe last night ;o)
Pelican Bay Restaurant is part of the Royal West Indies Resort and is where Mango Reef used to be. John had the hamburger and I had the open-faced Philly Cheese Steak sandwich.
John said his hamburger was good…the CheeseSteak sandwich was just okay but the fries were great! Hand-cut, not frozen…crisp on the outside, soft on the inside, perfection! It’s a pretty location and I’d go back just to have the fries!

We took a walk on Grace Bay Beach after lunch to walk off the fries. It was one of those perfect Winter days…sun hot but no humidity, a constant breeze and gentle water that was a joy to behold.

Me loving my life right now!
The water in Turks and Caicos on days like this is just stupid beautiful!

Perfection! Grace Bay Beach
All in all, just a really perfect Saturday in the Turks and Caicos Islands…and although it rained overnight, it’s shaping up to be a pretty perfect Sunday as well!
Morning Walks and Afternoon Breaks in Turks and Caicos
I get up pretty early, around 6am every morning and love going for a morning walk. It’s just so incredible waking up and taking a stroll along a pretty much uninhabited beach.

Path to Grace Bay Beach
It’s a great way to start off the day…a coffee and camera in hand, everything quiet except the gentle lapping of the water on the shore. Alone but not lonely. Love every blessed, silent minute of it!

Afternoon breaks with John aren’t too bad either! What a great way to really relax before heading back to work for the night.

Atabeyra Gloworm Cruise
Yesterday was a a great day! We booked ourselves onto the Atabeyra gloworm cruise. It was way cool. We set sail at 4:45, Andrew and I drank us lots of rum punch…good stuff…then we watched a beautiful sunset.

Beautiful sunset on my favorite boat!

Sunsets are always incredible when seen from aboard the Atabeyra
Half an hour after the sun went down the glow worms commenced their bioluminescence mating ritual. Flashes of green light lit up the waters surrounding us as the glow worms collided. It was pretty darn amazing. Unfortunately, I couldn’t capture any photos of the glow worms.
Here’s Andrew and Yia-Yia just hanging out eating nachos and salsa. Yia-Yia was pretty impressed with the boat ride and the glow worms!

Yia-Yia and Andrew just chillin'
We encountered a beautiful speed boat called the Wazz Up on our travels, it already looked crowded but was going to pick up more people on the shore…yikes! Made some waves that rocked the Atabeyra as it zoomed by us!

Wazz Up?!?
We headed over to The Vix to eat a late supper. If you get a chance you need to go to this Turks and Caicos restaurant on Sunday as they have traditonal Sunday Roast day. I had the roasted beef with Yorkshire pudding…it was delicious!

All in all, a pretty great day here in Turks and Caicos!
Early Morning Walks on Grace Bay Beach
Early morning walks on Grace Bay beach are pretty hard to beat as a way to start your day. The sun, sand and sound and beauty of the water tends to wash away any stressful thoughts and allows your body to relax to the fullest.

Early Morning on Beautiful Grace Bay Beach
Saw a great sandcastle someone made. It’s pretty intricate in its detail. Someone spent a lot of time on this…it was fun just to happen upon it while walking along…thank you!

If you’re ever on Grace Bay Beach between 8 and 9 in the morning you might catch a glimpse of John and Oscar. John’s pretty diligent in walking and training Oscar every morning. He loves it when folks recognize him from the blog and stop and say hi!
