Sunday Fundays
I absolutely love, love, love Sundays in the Turks and Caicos Islands! We started off the day with Rebecca and brunch by John, always yummy!
We then headed over to Heather’s place in Chalk Sound, close to Taylor Bay. Heather has created a beautiful, creative, serene space in which to do her art. Here’s the view.

Just incredible!
Then we played dominoes! Finally, I’m going to learn how to play. I really enjoyed it, still don’t quite get the strategy of playing certain tiles over others but that will come with time and practice. We’re going to start an all girl’s team and enter the competition next year if we get good enough!

Heather, John & Rebecca
It’s sometimes difficult to find people you’re compatible with here on Island. I’ve been very lucky. Heather and Rebecca are both incredibly amazing women and I’m enjoying getting to know them.
Hopefully there will be many more domino games to come!
Random Photos
Here a bunch of random photos that I’ve taken at various times over the past week.

Candle in the Wind

Candles in the Wind
I love these two pictures…they really show the ambiance of our nights here in Turks and Caicos. It’s just brilliant being able to sit and gaze at the view and feel encased in the warm glow of the candles and the sunset.

Bird in Tree
I see this bird in the palm tree while I’m working quite often. This is one of the few times I got a half decent picture of it. Have no idea what kind it is but every time I pull out my camera to take a pic, it takes off…like it really doesn’t want to be photographed. Maybe it’s afraid the camera will steal its soul?

Random shot while playing around with the camera
We don’t watch TV here but every once in awhile I’ll throw a show on the computer to watch and then either read while I’m “watching” it or try to figure out how to work the camera better which is what I was doing here. I wasn’t meaning to take a picture but hit the wrong button…kinda cool pic though, like ghost tv.

Saddest Face
This is the saddest face I’ve ever seen. I was having a sandwich and Shaka was really bummed out that I wasn’t sharing it with him! You really have to watch your food around him though because he’ll inhale it. I swear he doesn’t chew anything, just swallows. I was once eating a grilled cheese sandwich and got called away by the gardener for about 30 seconds…got back, no sandwich to be seen…just Shaka looking real guilty but happy at the same time! I love this big guy.

Random Turks and Caicos Sunset
And of course, a sunset pic. I like this one because of the star like pattern the reflection of the sun is creating on the water.
So those are my random pictures for the week…hope ya like ‘em!
A Few of My Favorite Things
Here are just a few of my favorite things that I get to experience on a daily basis at the moment!
This is the view I experience everyday while working away on my computer…not too shabby, huh!

The View From My Workplace
Here’s a pretty bird that stops by almost everyday. It’s sometimes hard to concentrate on work when I just want to observe and take photos.

Daily Visitor
This is what goes on beside me while I’m working…Miss Kitty is a hoot and always entertaining!

Miss Kitty Keeps Me Laughing
My afternoon break at the beach below.

Me hanging out in the Gazebo by the beach
Oscar taking a break with me in the crystal clear water while I dig my toes in the sand.

Water was especially clear this day
Toes in sand…feels soooo good!

Toes smooshing in the sand...love it!
And to top it off…I get to see sunsets like these almost every night!

Sunset in July in Turks and Caicos
The water is becoming more and more still everyday. Apparently by August it is like glass. I woke up this morning and it was just after sunrise…the water had very few ripples in it, even less than the photo above…The sky was a light blue and there were fluffy clouds floating by slowly which were perfectly reflected in the water. I was so fascinated by the beauty of it that I forgot to take a picture!
I will remember the next time I see it though.
So these are just a few of my favorite things here in Turks and Caicos…the views, the animals, the sand, the water and sunsets. Feeling pretty blessed to be able to experience it all!
Sunday at Pelican Beach
John and I took Shaka and Oscar to Pelican Beach this morning. Still my favorite beach on Island! We all had a great time, especially Shaka.

Shaka Cuddling Up...he's such a sweetie!
John took them for a walk and they got to play with two big sheepdogs, one of whom we met at the dog show!

The Boys!
Love, love, love Sundays! I think Shaka does too!

Josh and Cynthia in Turks and Caicos
Here are some photos of Josh and Cynthia on their honeymoon in Turks and Caicos! We’ve been having a great time with them since they’ve been here. Cynthia is on her way back to Montreal as we speak and Josh leaves tomorrow. Not enough time to do everything we wanted to do with them but they’ll be coming back!

They started off staying at the Mansion for a few nights and were here for my big birthday bash on Sunday…then we whisked them away to the Gansevoort on Sunday night so they could have a 3 day honeymoon alone. Not really a honeymoon if you’re with your parents/in-laws…if you know what I mean!
Then back they came to the Mansion with the jacuzzi (Josh’s favorite thing) and the beach…not too bad, huh. It was great spending time with both Cynthia and Josh. They got to meet most of the people we know and enjoy in Turks and Caicos and there was lots of eating, drinking, laughing and talking. I took way too much time off but it was so worth it!
Living out of a Suitcase
I’ve been living out of a suitcase for the past month and although I’m getting used to it, I much prefer having my own space.
I stayed with my son Joshua and his now wife, Cynthia for a week before their wedding. That was pretty great as I got to spend some quality time with both of them and talk, talk, talk. That’s one of the things I’ve missed greatly since moving to Turks and Caicos…coffee time with Josh and Cynthia!
Their wedding day was phenomenal! Cynthia was absolutely gorgeous and Josh as handsome as could be! There were tears and laughter at both the ceremony and the reception. There were speeches and fire spinning and an elf dancing! Can’t wait to get the photos and video footage so I can put them up here to show everyone!
Here’s a photo from Cynthia’s sister Amalia:

John, Me, Josh, Cynthia, Cynthia's Mom Lina
My trip back to Montreal was wonderful, getting to see family and friends and getting to shop like a crazy person after six months away was a lot of fun and of course the main event, Josh’s wedding was one of the happiest days of my life.
I missed the weather in Provo though as I think out of two weeks spent in Montreal I only got 5 good days of weather. The rest of the time it was rainy and cold.
Back in TCI now and I’m still living out of a suitcase as I’m house-sitting for some folks. I’ll finally be settled in at the mansion where John is at right now around June 22nd where hopefully I’ll stay put for at least five months.
I’m back to enjoying the sunsets and am living with a 5 month old Rottweiler puppy who has personal space issues. He is constantly jumping, nudging, and generally driving me batty with his need for attention.

Simba doesn't believe in personal space
He is about the cutest puppy I’ve ever seen and I’m trying hard to be patient but I need to tie him up at times so I can actually do some work. He thinks if my hands are moving that they should be petting him, so typing is kinda difficult if he’s loose!
I’m going to take him to dog training class next Saturday and see if I can get some tips on how to handle him. Right now I’m going to take him for a walk and throw a ball around with him which will hopefully siphon off some of his puppy energy. Wish me luck!
